Dr Niki Malliaraki is a physician, Clinical Pathologist, National Health Service Director in the Laboratory of Clinical Chemistry – Biochemistry at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete.She graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She completed her PhD in the Laboratory of Cancer Biology at the Medical School of Crete. She received training in various immunologic techniques at INSERM U268 (Hôpital Paul Brousse, Paris, France) and the Department of Biochemistry of Université Paris VII. She completed field service as a rural physician seconded to the Reference Center for AIDS in Venizeleio Hospital, Crete. She specialized in Clinical Pathology-Laboratory Medicine at the Venizeleio, Athens Laiko General and University Hospital of Heraklion. She has worked as a clinical pathologist at the Iatriko Center of Heraklion, the Blood Transfusion Center of Venizeleio Hospital and the Laboratory of Clinical Chemistry – Biochemistry at the University Hospital of Heraklion. She has 51 publications in reputable international journals with 1794 citations and an h-index of 27(13/12/22). She is a member of the editorial board of “Metabolism Open” (Elsevier Editions), a reviewer for international medical journals and the Vice President of the Hellenic Society of Medical Biochemistry. Her research interests are focused on obesity/metabolic syndrome, lipid disorders, bone metabolism and vitamin D. She is fluent in English and French.
